It does work but may stress you out! November 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ordered on Tuesday morning, arrived, well packaged, on Wednesday morning.
There are many places where you simply pick up your own heartbeat which can be deceptive. If in doubt, use your spare hand to check the pulse it your neck and compare it to what you are hearing. As a guideline, your heartbeat should be roughly 60-90bpm whereas your baby's will more like 120-160bpm. It took me over an hour but I did eventually find my baby's heartbeat. You need to use plenty of gel and have the transducer in exactly the right place, at the right angle, so it can take some time.
For the price, you really cannot complain about the product, it is obviously not as effective as the one your midwife will use but it does work. If you cannot find your baby's heartbeat please try not to worry too much, you really do have to be in the right place, at the right time (in case baby is moving) and at the right angle. Even if you can't find the heartbeat it is most likely that your little one is doing just fine (especially if you have had a successful 12 week scan). I wish you all happy, successful pregnancies!
Amazing birthday present! October 30, 2008 I was rather sceptical about dopplers after hearing some bad reports of other varieties on a forum I use, but got this one as a present from my sister in law for my birthday. I am having twins and am currently 17 weeks pregnant, even the midwife said it can be a struggle to find the heartbeats with her machine...after a few seconds of listening though we found baby 1's heartbeat then moved around to the other side and hunted a few more seconds and there was baby 2! It is reassuring and amazing to hear them both pumping away.
Yes there is some crackling and also some squealing noices as you move the doppler around but you get this on the midwives expensive machine too. I would definitely recommend this to other pregnant ladies or those looking for an unusual gift for a pregnant lady as it helps partners and others feel more involved in the pregnancy.
Great October 30, 2008 This fetal doppler is really good, is easy to switch on and off, and small enough that you can you use one hand to find the heart beat. The sound is very clear but i am 20 weeks so that may make a difference. It gives me the reassurance that i have been looking for and my husband feels more envoled.

I am 16 weeks pregnant & was looking forward to getting my new doppler, however when it arrived I have to say I was less than impressed,I struggled to find a heartbeat if at all. I would not recommend this doppler to expectant mothers are they are not as good as described & scare the hell out of you if fail to find the heartbeat. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with dopplers you use at home??
I used this and heard babies at 9 weeks! September 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this thinking I'd have to wait a week or so before I could actually hear anything, but I tried it immediately (I was 9 weeks pregnant) and heard one of my babies heartbeats straight away. I say one of the babies as I am having twins which I had already had confirmed on an early scan at 7 weeks where the heartbeats were detected.
For a couple of weeks I tried to listen every so often and heard the one baby, then at 11 weeks I picked up my second babies heartbeat.
This doppler is very good and I would recommend it to anyone who wants reassurance before their 12 week scan.
