TOP BRITISH MACHINE November 15, 2008 Dyson DC24 Allfloors - The Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner - Iron Satin Yellow What a great little machine, compact, efficient, light, great design and styling. Have had Dysons for years and no problems so far. This machine really wins in the weight stakes, it's light and easily carried upstairs by myself and my wife. She loves it and it stows away much better than our our old machine. Best of all it's British, showing we can still lead the world, in some things at least.
Mini marvel ! November 9, 2008 Like many houses we just don't seem to have enough storage, so rather than opt for the full size DC25 we bought the DC24. I am a Dyson sceptic & was ready to give this item a slating but it's brilliant & not just for small houses & flats. The build quality & design is great ~ it has 2 motors, one for the suction & a seperate one for the beater bar (which you can turn off). The cleaning performance is superior to our Henry + Panasonic & vax uprights, it's also quite quiet.Being smaller you will have to empty it more, a small price to pay for such convenience. Never before have the kids been so eager to do housework! Thoroughly recommended & not just for small properties.
Dyson DC24 - very disappointing November 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this Dyson model DC24 a few months ago and I am very disappointed with it. Why? 1)Very short cable, have to use 13amp extension cable with it to reach end of 21ft room! 2)Very awkward to rig up the hose - turn it upside down etc. The old DC01 one just unhooked and was ready for use, not so this one! 3) No Crevice Tool included! 4) Difficult to steer, hard on the wrist - and when alongside the skirting it tries to climb up it and scratch the wallpaper! 5) The articulation of the axles etc is very awkward and takes several attempts to get into position 6) Sometimes when putting back to upright position it does not click in place and falls over! 7) The switch often has to be pressed several times to engage On/Off
Quite a big list eh?
Only good points is it is light and can clean hard floors!
poor suction October 30, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
after having read the previous reviews on this model, i decided to buy it instead of the dc25 due to its size and weight. unfortunatly i didnt check out the suction on it compared to the dc 25. the dc 24 only has 100 airwatts suction compared to the 220 airwatts of the dc 25, which although it does pick up dirt/hairs, it doesnt do it at good as you would expect for nearly 200. i have therefore returned it and am now ordering a dc25 as replacement.
Almost perfect October 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When our second Dyson expired after 7 years service,(the flex shorted out in the machine),we decided, as our new place is smaller with wooden floors downstairs,to replace it with a cheaper machine.Big mistake!,we hated it from day one.Noisy, heavy, awkward, inefficient, filters kept clogging. so when after 6 wks it stopped working it was a cause for celebration, got our money back from Argos and bought a DC24. I chose it for its lightness, but still got a surprise when we unpacked it at how small it seemed. This is a powerful machine though, the first time I used it the cylinder was half full of hairs and dust, the residue in the carpets and rugs that our previous "new cleaner" had failed to collect. Its extremely user friendly, especially on the stairs. With previous cleaners, it was awkward and tiring, the DC24 is so light and compact I use the machine itself ,not the hose and brush attachment. Speaking of attachments, there is only one which comes with the machine, any others you want ,you have to buy separately, which is a bit much when buying something as dear as a Dyson. The cable isn't as long as previous Dysons either, but these are my only quibbles ,we are very pleased with it.
