2 out of 5 stars Why does a Strategy Game have such high system requirements?   November 23, 2008
I am appalled by the decision of the game's designers to exclude players with older PCs by setting the system requirements so high, in order to include totally unnecessary graphics, which even when set to their bare minimum far exceed the requirements of previous editions of the game, and for many people will make the game unplayable without further expenditure on increased RAM and graphics card upgrades. I am sure that some people's enjoyment of the game will be increased by being able to watch the matches in 3D, but as is is just a small part of the game, was it really necessary to exclude so many people just for the benefit of its inclusion? Very disappointing.

5 out of 5 stars Quality game as always   November 23, 2008
I've read a lot of reviews on here saying its really hard to install but I had no problems whatsoever installing through steam. The game itself, which most reviews on here seem to have ignored entirely is brilliant. The new 3d match engine works really well even if the animation is a bit dodgy, its much clearer how your tactics are working. The assistant manager feedback is great and the press conferences really add to the immersion factor. A great step forward in the franchise.

4 out of 5 stars A little bit of the same   November 23, 2008
Let me start off by saying that I have had no game activation issues. The only gripe I had was when I started up the game for the first time & my screen went blue and my computer told me it had to be switched off to avoid causing serious damage to data etc. But afterwards it started up fine. So don't listen to the other reviews bitching & moaning about activation & giving it 1 star because of that, read some positive reviews before you make up your mind.
Back to the actual game itself.
If you put the FM08 skin over this version it would feel more of an update than a brand new game, which really is the only reason it gets 4 stars and not 5.
There has been no lagging, crashing or skipping of gameplay and everything runs fine, including the new 3D match system. Theres a few other updated player options and a new Female manager option, which to be honest, is something myself & alot of other players would never use.
The match day is great as usual & the new Manager New Conference on major & important matches is a neat addition, but could start getting irritating depending on how often they come about.
Theres a few new transfer options & a new transfer rumour page, so if someone leaks out that your interested in Titus Bramble (lol) then other teams might feel he is something special and show an interest also.
Data editor is a useful little tool to create your own football team / ground / player. I myself have created my own team and put Barry Town in the english conference. Really easy to use, I'd give 5 stars for the data editor.
Overall, its a great game, no doubt about it, but it doesnt feel enough like a 'new' game. So I'll give it 4 stars. :)

1 out of 5 stars Please dont waste your money!   November 22, 2008
I bought this game with quite moderate expectations and it didnt even meet those. The 3-d engine is a good addition...well if you have a high performing computer and its still slow then and gets frustrating.

The installation is a joke and when you do install it I had to download a graphics patch to run it! When it is finally loaded (after a few hours) not much has changed from 2008. Its almost identical!

Should be sold as an add on like they used to for 15. I took mine back. Poor.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game   November 22, 2008
Despite this rough start SI has had with this release, once all patch's were out and activation issues resolved, it allowed us to settle into a fantastic game!!!! I am addicted already...

A MUST BUY
