Not The Picnic March 5, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a show like The Two Ronnies' "By The Sea" or "The Picnic" this is not for you. To list Ronnie Barker as the star is deceiving ... he is no more prominent than the many other actors that appear. I found the film slow, dated and unfunny. The accompanying interview went beyond being 'so bad its funny'.
Very Funny Silent Comedy September 12, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
A suprisingly fresh and funny comedy featurette with scores of familiar British comedy actors(Bernard Cribbins,Peter Butterworth,Richard Briers, and most memorably,Ronnie Barker)which works all the better being silent with an accompanying music score. There's a pleasant bonus with an interview with the film's producer Bob Kellett, although it is rather pointlessly filmed in black and white.Still worth buying, though.
At last............. August 17, 2006 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Great that this is finally available on DVD. Been waiting for this for years. Apparently it gets played on German television every Christmas- why not here?? Anyway no need to worry about that anymore. The Rice Crispies scene gets me all the time. You must see this. Wonderful stuff, we'll miss you Ronnie.
