Beware - this is not a REAL dinosaur!!!! November 4, 2008 2 out of 14 found this review helpful
I would just like to warn all potential buyers that this is not a real dinosaur. I was very excited to find a dinosaur on sale in Amazon - and that they would actually post it to me - rather than having to travel back in time several million years. Imagine my dissapointment when I discovered that this was little more than a plastic toy. My attempts to annoy my fundamentalist christian friends with living proof of life from more than 5000 years ago were once again thwarted! Ohh - this makes me madder!
Poor quality October 28, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The quality of the build is lousy to be honest, the skin looses color - the paint comes off! The white paint on the teeth chips off. As does the brown on the eyelids. Not to mention that the skin itself is of low quality, it tears and even 'melts away' without the user even having put any stress on the rubber skin. So the physical exterior is poor. So far mine has worked mechanically, although a leg joint occasionally gets stuck. And no, my Pleo has not been played with by kids, I'm an adult and my kid (4yo) does not even want to play with Pleo.
The range of motion is limited, Pleo can not sit down on its own. And it can not lie down. Movement of neck and tail make it look more 'realistic' but the limited movement of the legs is a real pity.
The program LifeOS is terrible... it's noting like the manufacturer advertises. To put things nicely: it's limited... and repetitive. And boring. I am not impressed. Hopefully the manufacturer will release a firmware (LifeOS) upgrade that lives up to the hype.

This is a fantastic piece of engineering. It is a little slow in its normal learning mode, but you can reprogram it so it takes commands from an SD card. You can replace any of the built-in sounds with your own recorded voice or music. Free software is available to do this.
over price seriously flawed June 2, 2008 15 out of 20 found this review helpful
the paint on the back and teeth rubs off in next to no time, the battery is rubbish. This is a VERY over priced toy, that could have been so much more. Very disapointed

He is cute, he is adorable, you can make him sleep by cuddling him. But the battery life is short (1 hour per 3 hr charge). Ideally I would have wanted to leave him on all day to learn so when I returned home he could greet me, but obviously that is not possible. I'd get a second battery if they were for sale.
